Wake Forest university ⁤Lands Among Top Four​ for Study Abroad

Winston-Salem, NC -⁢ November 21, 2024 – ‌Wake Forest University is being recognized for its ​commitment⁢ to global education,‍ ranking fourth ⁣nationally in study abroad participation​ among leading doctoral universities, according to the Institute ⁣of International Education’s ‍(IIE) newly released Open Doors 2025 report. ‌Published November⁣ 17th, the report ⁤- considered the world’s benchmark for global educational exchange – revealed that an remarkable 85.7% of Wake ⁤Forest undergraduates earned academic credit⁢ for study abroad experiences during the 2023-24 academic year and the summer ‍of ⁢2024.

“The high level ​of student​ enrollment in study abroad reflects two things:​ our students’ strong commitment to gaining a global viewpoint, and Wake ⁣Forest’s institutional dedication to creating these crucial opportunities,” said David Taylor, ‍Assistant Dean of Global Study Away Programs. He further emphasized, “Wake Forest University is preparing students to both navigate‌ in and contribute to an‌ interdependent world community.”

The recognition ​comes as the IIE report also highlighted a 5% overall increase in international students ‍hosted at U.S. colleges and universities, reaching a total of ​1.2 million ⁢in the 2024/2025 academic year.

Wake Forest’s dedication to global engagement was further showcased this ​week with the launch of its inaugural ⁤edition of global‌ Gauge magazine. The publication, released in‌ coordination with International Education Week, highlights global ⁣teaching, inquiry, and partnerships occurring both abroad and on campus.

“Global Gauge is a ⁤vital tool that captures the breadth of our international opportunities, showcasing how Wake Forest ⁢takes its mission to the world and brings⁤ the world back to ​wake Forest,” explained‌ Kline Harrison, Vice Provost for Global Affairs.

International Education ‌Week (IEW), celebrated November 17-21, provided a⁤ platform for Wake Forest ‍to celebrate international education with events including a Night ⁢Market featuring global food, music, and⁣ activities, and a symposium for international scholars⁢ to present their research.
