Wahpeton Duo Cycles Across America to Fund cancer Research
WAHPETON, N.D. – Two north Dakota men are embarking on a cross-country cycling journey to raise funds for cancer research, documenting their experiences adn inspiring listeners through a dedicated podcast. As of September 18, 2025, Kevin and Brandon Wallevand, of Wahpeton, are actively traveling, aiming to amplify awareness and financial support for a cause that has deeply impacted countless families.
The brothers’ initiative, fueled by personal connections to cancer, seeks to provide critical resources for research and patient care. Their podcast chronicles the challenges and triumphs of long-distance cycling, interwoven with stories of individuals affected by cancer, and interviews with medical professionals. The Wallevands hope to raise critically important funds and foster a sense of community around the fight against the disease.
Kevin Wallevand, a veteran reporter with WDAY-TV as 1983, and his brother Brandon began their journey with a goal of connecting with people across the nation and sharing their message of hope. ”It’s about more than just the miles,” Kevin Wallevand stated. “It’s about the stories, the connections, and the impact we can make together.”
Originally from Vining, Minnesota, Kevin Wallevand brings decades of experience in storytelling to the project, having reported from locations including Africa, Vietnam, Haiti, and the Middle east. His work has been recognized with multiple Emmy and Edward R. Murrow awards.
