Volkswagen T-Roc Enters Second Generation with Hybrid Powertrains, Enhanced Tech
bratislava, slovakia – Volkswagen has unveiled the next generation T-Roc, marking a notable shift with the elimination of diesel engines and the introduction of both mild-hybrid and full hybrid powertrain options.the revamped model boasts a more refined design and upgraded assistance and lighting systems, signaling Volkswagen’s commitment to electrification and advanced vehicle technology.
The second-generation T-Roc arrives as Volkswagen navigates increasingly stringent emissions regulations and evolving consumer preferences. This launch impacts potential buyers seeking a compact SUV with modern fuel efficiency and technology, and sets the stage for further hybrid adoption across the Volkswagen Group.The new T-Roc is expected to arrive in showrooms with a phased rollout of engine options, beginning with mild-hybrids and culminating in full hybrid variants by the second half of 2026.
Stylistically, the new T-Roc features a more streamlined and elegant aesthetic, with a design split approximately 60:40 between sporty and sophisticated elements. Inside, the vehicle will be equipped with an improved Travel Assist package, including Park Assist Pro for enhanced driver convenience. Lighting options will range from standard diode LED lights to LED Plus versions, with the top-tier IQ.Light LED Matrix system offering the most advanced illumination.
Powering the new T-Roc will be exclusively petrol hybrid options. Initially, a 1.5-liter ETSI four-cylinder engine will be available in two mild-hybrid configurations: 85 kW (115 hp) and 110 kW (150 hp). A more powerful 2.0-liter ETSI four-cylinder, producing 150 kW (204 hp), will also utilize mild-hybrid technology and come exclusively with a 4Motion all-wheel drive system. All mild-hybrid systems employ a 48-volt circuit,delivering an additional 14 kW (19 hp) and 56 Nm of torque.
A key development arrives in the second half of 2026 with the introduction of classic hybrid versions - a frist for both the T-Roc and the entire Volkswagen Group. These will be offered in two performance levels: 100 kW (136 hp) and 125 kW (170 hp), both based on a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. All engine options will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission.
