Borja,Spain – Anna van der Breggen,at 35,etched a remarkable chapter in her storied career by winning Stage 4 of La Vuelta Femenina 2025. The stage, a 111.6 km ride from Pedrola to Borja, featured challenging climbs and a thrilling downhill finish.

Slovak Cyclists Shine

Viktória Kozená showcased her resilience against formidable competitors, including defending champion Demi Vollering. The stage presented key climbs, notably Alto Del Moncayo (5.5 km at 5.5%) and Puerto del El Bust (5 km at 5.4%), which peaked 12.5 km before the finish.

Kozená navigated the initial climb smoothly but faced a setback approximately 650 meters from the lead group on the second ascent.Pauline Ferrand-Prevot of Visma-Lease a Bike also encountered difficulties.

Despite the challenges, Kozená finished 27th, with Marianne Vos being the onyl teammate to finish ahead of her. Vos had also finished second on Tuesday.

Van der Breggen’s Decisive Attack

The race intensified as the cyclists approached the final stretch. Van der Breggen launched a decisive attack 7 km before the finish, catching her rivals off guard.

Van der Breggen, a double world champion, four-time winner of the Giro d’Italia, and Olympic champion from Rio de Janeiro, transitioned to a sports director role at SD Worx after the 2021 World Championship before returning to competitive cycling this year.

Her victory marks her first win since returning to the sport and the 63rd of her career. She had previously finished second to Demi Vollering in the Strade Bianche.

It’s really a great feeling, I didn’t expect it at all. It wasn’t a plan, but the pace in the downhill was low, so I decided to go for it. I didn’t expect this solo to win to the victory.

Nora Jenčušová finished with a meaningful deficit, dropping to 120th in the overall classification. Kozená, however, improved her position by 44 places, now standing at 62nd overall.
