VPS Expands into Poultry Health with Industry Veteran Hire & Research Presentation
Veterinary Pharmaceutical Solutions (VPS), a prominent livestock pharmaceutical compounding company, has announced its official entry into the poultry market, signaling a key step in its continued growth.this expansion is underscored by the addition of a new commercial director specializing in poultry health and recent recognition at a major industry event.
Leading the charge into this new sector is Darrell stoner, appointed as VPSS Commercial Director-Poultry. Stoner brings over two decades of experience in poultry health management, including previous leadership positions at Elanco Animal Health. He also demonstrates a strong commitment to animal welfare, having served as chair of the Health & Welfare Committee for the International Poultry Welfare Alliance (IPWA), and holding board roles with both The Poultry Federation and the National Turkey federation.
Stoner will be responsible for spearheading VPS’s poultry initiatives, focusing on building strong relationships with poultry integrators and veterinarians. His primary goal will be to develop and deliver innovative, customized pharmaceutical solutions tailored to the specific health needs of chickens and turkeys.
VPS’s dedication to poultry health was further demonstrated at the American Association of Avian Pathologists (AAAP) annual conference in Portland,July 29-31. Dr. Brian Payne, VPS’s Director of Commercial R&D and Technical services, was selected to present research findings.
The research, a collaborative effort with Iowa State University, focused on Meloxicam residue levels in finishing turkeys. The study provides valuable data to support informed, science-based recommendations for withdrawal times of Meloxicam and ibuprofen – the only two FDA-approved water-soluble NSAIDs currently available for use in both poultry and livestock.
“Dr. Payne’s presentation at AAAP is a testament to VPS’s commitment to advancing animal health through rigorous research and innovation,” stated Stacy Peters,Chief Commercial Officer at VPS. “We’ve established a strong reputation in the swine industry for providing high-quality, customized compounded medications, and we are excited to extend that same level of service and expertise to the poultry sector, supporting veterinarians and integrators in protecting and enhancing flock health.”
