Vogelsang-Warsin, a municipality in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, is seeking approval for a €97,500 loan to finance upgrades to its street lighting and the purchase of a multi-purpose vehicle. The proposal, which requires the consent of the municipal council, was presented in a draft resolution for the upcoming council meeting.
According to the resolution, the municipality intends to secure an investment loan with a ten-year interest rate lock-in and a repayment rate of 3.5 percent. The council will discuss the loan application and authorize the mayor to proceed with securing the credit during its session on Tuesday, February 17th. The municipality plans to solicit four bids to ensure competitive terms.
The municipality, which had a population of 373 as of December 31, 2024, is administered by the Amt Am Stettiner Haff, with its administrative headquarters in Eggesin. Ingo Grönow serves as the mayor of Vogelsang-Warsin, with Kai Kliewe as his first deputy.
In addition to the loan proposal, the council will address a land exchange in a closed-door session. The exchange involves the DBU Naturerbe GmbH, which owns natural heritage areas in the Ueckermünder Heide, and the municipality of Vogelsang-Warsin. Details of the land swap were not disclosed in the publicly available agenda.
Vogelsang-Warsin, originally known only as Vogelsang until December 9, 1995, is situated in the northeastern part of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The area features the Ueckermünder Heide forest and proximity to the Neuwarper Spot and Stettiner Haff. The municipality offers recreational opportunities including a beach in Warsin and a sport boat harbor.
The municipal council meeting is scheduled to take place at 7:00 PM in the Multiples Haus “Alte Dorfschule” (Ahornweg 1, Vogelsang) and is open to the public.
