CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The University of Virginia volleyball team continues its 2025 campaign this weekend, welcoming Boston College on Friday evening adn Syracuse on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium. Coming off a historic 2024 season, the Cavaliers aim to build on recent success as they navigate the ACC schedule.
Virginia’s resurgence culminated in a 21-win season in 2024 – the program’s most victories since 2006 – and a berth in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship, marking their first postseason appearance since 1999. The team also secured 11 ACC wins, the most since 2013. This weekend’s matches offer an early opportunity to gauge progress and establish momentum within the conference.
Leading the charge for UVA are returning seniors Kate Johnson (defensive specialist/libero), Kadynce Booth (outside hitter), and Kate Dean (middle blocker). Johnson is unique as the only player who has been with the program for all four years. the junior class features Meredith Reeg (defensive specialist/libero), who returns after missing much of the 2024 season due to injury, and Lauryn Bowie (outside hitter/right side).
The sophomore class boasts 2024 All-ACC freshman team selection Zoey Dood (setter) alongside Becca Wight (right side). Sarah Brodner (outside hitter/right side) and Teagan hogan (defensive specialist/libero) complete the group of returning players.
Friday’s match against Boston College is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET, followed by a Sunday afternoon contest against Syracuse at 1:00 PM ET. Both games will be played at Memorial Gymnasium in Charlottesville.
