Hanoi, January 10 (VNA) – Vietnam Social Security (VSS) has handed out social insurance booklets and health insurance cards to people in difficulty ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet), with the aim of Expand social assistance coverage.

This annual effort, carried out at the central and local levels, is part of the objective of providing social and health insurance to all set out in Resolutions 20-NQ/TW and 28-NQ/TW of the Party Central Committee.
In addition, the agency will also provide gifts to poor patients with health insurance who receive treatment in hospitals during the Tet holiday.
To finance this initiative, VSS has so far collected more than 22 billion dong ($916,000) in cash and in-kind from businesses and philanthropists nationwide.
Last year, it handed out 267,000 social insurance booklets and health insurance cards, with a total value of 79.4 billion dong. The entire sector granted 3,881 gifts worth more than 2.3 billion VND to patients with health insurance and treated in central, provincial and district hospitals. -VNA
