East Montpelier Man‌ Arrested on DUI Charge

East Montpelier, ⁢VT – A Montpelier man was ​arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop on U.S. Route⁤ 2 on September 7, 2025. The Vermont State Police responded to a minor ⁣motor vehicle violation and subsequently identified the driver, George Aldrich, 29, as being impaired.

The incident ⁣underscores ongoing​ efforts by the Vermont State Police⁣ to enhance highway safety and address impaired driving, a leading cause⁣ of traffic fatalities and injuries. Aldrich’s arrest⁤ highlights the potential consequences of DUI, including court appearances, fines, and potential license suspension. He is scheduled to appear ​in Washington County Superior Court⁤ – Criminal Division on September 26,​ 2025, at 0830 hours.

According to a news ​release from the Berlin⁣ Barracks, troopers observed the initial traffic violation at approximately 1953 hours on the intersection of U.S. Route 2 ⁣and Vermont Route 14 ​South. ⁣Following field⁢ sobriety assessments, Aldrich was taken into custody and transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing.
