East Montpelier Man Arrested on DUI Charge
East Montpelier, VT – A Montpelier man was arrested for driving under the influence following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 2 on September 7, 2025. The Vermont State Police responded to a minor motor vehicle violation and subsequently identified the driver, George Aldrich, 29, as being impaired.
The incident underscores ongoing efforts by the Vermont State Police to enhance highway safety and address impaired driving, a leading cause of traffic fatalities and injuries. Aldrich’s arrest highlights the potential consequences of DUI, including court appearances, fines, and potential license suspension. He is scheduled to appear in Washington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on September 26, 2025, at 0830 hours.
According to a news release from the Berlin Barracks, troopers observed the initial traffic violation at approximately 1953 hours on the intersection of U.S. Route 2 and Vermont Route 14 South. Following field sobriety assessments, Aldrich was taken into custody and transported to the Berlin Barracks for processing.
