Global Mobilization Planned as Venezuelans Worldwide Prepare to Celebrate María Corina Machado’s Nobel Recognition
[CITY, STATE] – November 29, 2023 – A worldwide demonstration of support for Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado and her recent Nobel Peace Prize recognition is planned for December 6th, with Venezuelans in over 80 cities across more than 25 countries preparing to participate. Teh initiative, dubbed “The Nobel is Ours,” aims to amplify the call for freedom and human rights in Venezuela, countering attempts by the current regime to suppress acknowledgement of the award.
Despite previous attempts to hinder public displays of support, organizers say the movement has expanded beyond Venezuela’s borders, fueled by the diaspora community. A dedicated online map – accessible at https://elnobelesnuestro.com/ – allows Venezuelans to locate organized meeting points in their cities, with details on concentration times and locations available in the “+ info” section.
“We are called to be the light of the path for the freedom of Venezuela. The Nobel is ours,” reads a central message of the global initiative. Organizers state the goal is to transform the Nobel Peace prize into a “tribute to all of Venezuela,” using the award as an “international megaphone” to advocate for freedom, human rights, and civic resistance to repression.
Thousands of Venezuelans have already confirmed their participation, demonstrating continued mobilization within the diaspora. The movement seeks to project a message of resilience: “Venezuela is still alive, organized and resolute.”
