Venezuela poised to Shatter Gold Medal Record at Ayacucho-Lima 2025 Bolivarian Games
LIMA, Peru – The venezuelan delegation is on the verge of surpassing its previous best performance at the Bolivarian Games, currently holding 60 gold medals – just one shy of the 61 achieved at Valledupar 2022. As of December 2nd, 2025, Venezuela has amassed a total of 177 medals, including 55 silver and 62 bronze, demonstrating important gains across multiple disciplines.
Several sports have shown remarkable betterment. Shooting sports have been a standout success, increasing their medal count from three bronze in 2022 to 12 medals this year, including two gold and two silver, led by Olympians Julio Iemma, Douglas Gómez, and Leonel Martínez. The women’s softball team also achieved a championship victory,doubling their previous production under the guidance of María Soto.
Strong performances have also come from sailing, with José “Gollito” Estredo securing gold in IQFoil and Daniela Rivera taking bronze in sunfish. Swimming contributed 35 medals, a 44% increase, highlighted by Lismar Lyon, Jorge Otaiza, and Dennis Pérez.Canoeing saw a 22% growth, earning ten medals with four golds, while wrestling defended its title with 16 medals, a 13% improvement.
December 1st proved particularly successful, adding five gold medals through César Amaris and José Guipe in rowing, Anriquelis Barrios and Leomaris Ruiz in judo, Edymar Brea in athletics, and Clever Martínez in track cycling. Additional medals were won in silver (judo, track cycling, table tennis) and bronze (athletics, surfing, judo).
Venezuelan athletes have opportunities to further extend their lead in the coming days, with potential for additional medals in athletics, track cycling, equestrian, judo, rowing, taekwondo, and table tennis.
