VDMA German Pavilion at CIPPE 2027 Registration Open
German engineering firms can register until January 15, 2027, for the VDMA German Pavilion at the upcoming China International Petroleum & Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition (CIPPE), vdma.eu reported.
VDMA Beijing Organizes Pavilion for 2026 Event Cycle
The upcoming exhibition follows shifts in official German trade fair participation. Between 2021 and 2023, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs organized an official federal presence at the event following an application by VDMA Forum Prozesstechnik, drawing an average of 10 to 15 German companies annually. The VDMA Beijing office assumed organizational responsibilities after the federal trade fair participation failed for the 2026 event cycle. For the pavilion, participating VDMA members receive a discounted rate per square meter. Exhibitors face a minimum space requirement of 9 square meters for built-up areas or 18 square meters for raw floor space. Companies can direct registration inquiries and layout questions to Ethan Liu at the VDMA Beijing office.
Historical Roots and Scale of the CIPPE Exhibition
The CIPPE event serves as the largest petroleum and petrochemical trade fair in China and across all of Asia, drawing 74,319 individual trade visitors in 2026. The VDMA has supported a German Pavilion at the exhibition since 2013, establishing a working relationship with local organizers. The exhibition functions as a collection of parallel events addressing offshore technology, marine equipment, waste treatment, and process technology alongside dedicated sections for hydrogen. Major Chinese providers including CNPC/Petro China, China National Offshore Oil, and Sinopec regularly anchor the exhibition floor alongside international machinery suppliers.

Digital Briefing on Market Developments and the Five-Year Plan
The VDMA Beijing office and trade fair organizer GMECS hosted an online information session on August 25, 2026. Pang Guanglian, secretary-general of the Chinese association of the petroleum and chemical industry, addressed participants during the Teams briefing. The briefing outlined key points from the 15th Five-Year Plan governing China’s petrochemical industry, detailed upcoming projects, and addressed evolving sector priorities and challenges for foreign equipment manufacturers entering the Chinese market.
What specific trade barriers or regulatory adjustments will emerge for foreign process technology providers as China advances its current Five-Year Plan targets ahead of the exhibition doors opening?
