Nebraska Volleyball Heads to Michigan for Key Big Ten Road Trip
EAST LANSING, Mich. – The University of Nebraska volleyball team (33-3, 19-1 Big ten in 2024) begins a crucial two-match road trip this week, facing Michigan State on Wednesday and Michigan on Saturday. The Huskers, coming off a season where they reached the NCAA Semifinals for the second consecutive year and seventh time in the last ten, aim to continue their dominance in the Big Ten, having secured their 36th all-time and fifth conference title last season.
Nebraska’s roster features two recent gatorade national Player of the Year honorees: Campbell Flynn and Teraya Sigler. Flynn, a setter, concluded her prep career wiht 1,973 assists and 737 kills, and competed in the Under Armour All-America Game, maintaining a 3.94 GPA. Sigler, a 6-2 outside hitter, amassed 1,951 kills and 1,128 digs in high school, leading Horizon High school to a 25-5 record and a fourth straight Conference 5A state championship in 2024 with 619 kills and 354 digs. Sigler was also a member of the U.S. U21 Women’s National Team that won gold at the 2024 NORCECA Championships and is ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2025 by PrepDig.com.
Flynn joins a distinguished group of Huskers to earn the Gatorade National Player of the Year award, including Harper murray (2022-23), Ally Batenhorst (2020-21), lexi Sun (2016-17), Mikaela Foecke (2014-15), and Gina Mancuso (2008-09).
In 2024, Nebraska finished with a .284 team hitting percentage, ranking 11th nationally, and led the Big Ten – and the nation in 2022 and 2023 - with a .143 opponent hitting percentage. The team’s 33 wins tied for the most victories as the 2000 national championship team (34-0), and their 29 regular-season wins tied the 1983 school record.
