Valley Health & Valley Residential Services mark 50 Years of Serving Herkimer County
Herkimer, NY – Valley Health Services (VHS) and Valley Residential Services (VRS) celebrated a significant milestone this week, marking 50 years of providing vital senior care to the Herkimer County community. A recent anniversary luncheon honored the dedication of staff, leadership, and community partners who have contributed to the institutions’ success over the past half-century.
VHS and VRS stand as the only nonprofit, mission-driven senior care providers in Herkimer County, offering a continuum of care focused on both health and well-being. VHS features apartment-style living with private living rooms, kitchenettes, bedrooms, and bathrooms. In 2018, a new wing added 14 double-occupancy apartments designed for couples. VRS provides residential services tailored to individual needs.
“We have built and cultivated a truly special community within the walls of our Valley facilities. All who visit cannot deny that walking through the doors feels like home and we have our talented, remarkable staff and leadership, both past and present,to thank for that,” said MaryBeth McCall,Chair of the VHS and VRS Board of trustees.”From my own experience as a nursing home medical director, I also know that the work that you do is both important and joyful. I know that these two institutions are a remarkable gift to our community.”
The growing need for senior care in Central New York underscores the importance of VHS and VRS. ”With an aging population in Central New York, facilities like VHS and VRS are becoming more critical with each passing year.
