Valérie Lemercier Confesses to One Cosmetic procedure After Decades of Speculation
PARIS - French actress and comedian valérie Lemercier has revealed she underwent a single cosmetic surgery twenty years ago: a chin reduction via liposuction. The admission comes amidst growing scrutiny of celebrity appearances and the increasing normalization of cosmetic procedures, a trend Lemercier herself has publicly observed and satirized.
Lemercier, known for roles in films like Visitors, has long maintained a remarkably youthful appearance, fueling speculation about facelifts and other interventions. however, the actress insists she has avoided more extensive procedures, opting instead for facial massages and diligent skincare. “There are doctors who think I’ve had facelifts, but you can look, I don’t have any scars!” she recently told le Parisien. “I don’t do Botox either, but a lot of facial massages. I believe in it much more than in creams.”
The actress’s comments reflect a broader conversation about the pressures faced by women in the entertainment industry to conform to certain beauty standards. She recounted instances of colleagues receiving unsolicited cosmetic enhancements, describing the practice as “like the butcher who adds a spoonful of minced steak to you,” according to Closer. Lemercier’s upcoming film, Scalpel, slated for release in 2026, is expected to further explore the topic with her signature brand of derision. She recently joked on BFMTV that attempting to portray perfection can be detrimental: “If we play and we have roles to play of peopel who are better, and we end up with a very swollen head, it doesn’t work.”
