USD to COP Exchange Rate: Colombian Peso Closes Stronger on October 13
El 13 de octubre de 2026, el dólar estadounidense cerró en Colombia con un promedio de 3.177,59 pesos colombianos, lo que representa una disminución respecto al cierre anterior.
Dollar Average Registers at 3,181 Pesos
The daily trading session saw minimum and maximum prices oscillate between 3,170 and 3,210 pesos, with the overall average registering at 3,181 pesos, El Espectador noted. The exchange rate’s volatility sat at 9.56%, remaining well below the reference volatility of 14.21%.
Broader performance metrics show diverging short- and long-term trajectories. The dollar registered a 2.13% descent over the preceding week, alongside an interannual contraction of 13.68%. El Espectador pointed out that despite a noticeable upward climb between September 9 and September 29—during which the currency added 277 pesos to touch 3,350 pesos—the past twelve months still reflect a devaluated dollar exceeding 22% against the Colombian peso.

Federal Reserve Interest Rate Hike Impacts Peso
El Espectador outlined that the Federal Reserve raised its interest rate by 25 basis points to a range of 3.75% to 4%, driven by persistent inflation exceeding 2% amid conflict in the Middle East. Another market assessment noted a Fed target range of 3.50% to 3.75%, while placing the Colombian central bank’s rate at 9.25%.
Oil prices and foreign exchange reserves continue to steer the Colombian peso. Rojas emphasized to El Espectador that local inflation and the decisions of the Banco de la República regarding interest rates will be determinant. Meanwhile, Grupo Cibest projected an average dollar price of 3,878 pesos for the entirety of 2026, pointing to a backdrop of global dollar weakness and steady remittance inflows cited by Valora Analitik.
National Budget Deadline Tests Exchange Rate Stability
Domestic fiscal events will test the exchange rate stability in the coming weeks. Daniel Londoño Tapia, Country Manager at Global66, told El Espectador that the 2027 national budget enters its final plenary stretch ahead of a midnight deadline on October 20. Lawmakers also anticipate the arrival of the Ley de Rescate during the second half of October, through which the Ministry of Finance aims to trim expenditures.
Market forecasts for the remainder of October place the exchange rate within a baseline range of 3,150 to 3,260 pesos. Analysts warn that upcoming U.S. inflation prints and fiscal decisions in Bogotá will determine whether the currency breaks out of this established corridor.
