The United States and Bahrain have formalized a cooperation agreement in the field of civil nuclear power. This important development occurred shortly before a meeting at the White House between President Donald Trump and Crown Prince Salmane Hamad Ben Issa Al-Khalifa.

“partner of any Country Who Wishes to Continue a civil nuclear Program”

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the agreement as an crucial signature, representing the initial phase of more profound civil nuclear collaboration. He emphasized that the United States is prepared to be a partner to any nation committed to a civil nuclear program that is unequivocally not intended for weapons development or posing a threat to its neighbors’ security.

While not directly naming Iran, which faces accusations from Israel and Washington regarding its nuclear ambitions, the U.S. has previously conducted actions such as bombing the Fordo Uranium enrichment site near Tehran and nuclear facilities in Ispahan and Natanz. These actions were part of a broader response to Iran’s nuclear activities.

Regional security in the Middle East

Bahrain maintains a close alliance with the United States and serves as the headquarters for the U.S. Fifth Fleet. President Trump was scheduled to host the Crown Prince of Bahrain at the White House for discussions on regional security in the Middle East and economic cooperation.
