University of Nevada, Reno Celebrates spring commencement with Five In-Person Ceremonies
The University of Nevada, Reno is set to celebrate its Spring Commencement with five in-person ceremonies held on the University Quad. From Thursday, May 15, through Saturday, May 17, the university will confer 3,002 degrees, including 2,297 bachelor’s degrees and 705 master’s and doctoral degrees.
Commencement Ceremony schedule
To accommodate graduates and their families, the university will host five separate ceremonies. Here’s a detailed schedule:
- May 15
- 8:30 a.m. Ceremony: College of science and School of Social Work
- 3 p.m. Ceremony: College of Liberal Arts, Orvis School of Nursing, and Donald W. Reynolds School of Journalism
- May 16
- 8:30 a.m. Ceremony: College of Business
- 3 p.m. Ceremony: College of Agriculture, biotechnology, and Natural Resources and College of Engineering
- May 17
- 8:30 a.m. Ceremony: College of Education and Human Growth, School of Public Health, and School of Medicine (Speech Pathology)

The University Quad has been the traditional site for commencement ceremonies for decades, offering a picturesque backdrop for this momentous occasion.
Parking and Transportation
Free parking will be available in all three parking complexes on the day of the ceremonies. A shuttle service will operate from the West Stadium Parking Complex to the Quad and back,running two hours before and after each ceremony. Guests with limited mobility can utilize the ADA drop-off area near Morrill Hall, on the south side of the Quad. Ushers will be available to provide wheelchair escorts from the ADA drop-off location upon request.
Travelers are advised to check Nevada Department of transportation road conditions for updates on road construction and closures. Expect heavy traffic around campus,so allow ample time for arrival and seating.
Pro tip:
Arrive at least an hour before the ceremony to secure parking and seating, especially if you have specific seating requirements or are traveling with a large group.
Inclement Whether Plan
In the event of inclement weather, ceremonies will be moved to Lawlor Event Center. Any changes will be promptly updated on the University website.
Graduation Attire
Graduates needing a cap and gown can visit the Nevada Wolf shop in the Joe Crowley Student Union. The Wolf Shop will also be open before each commencement ceremony.
Guest Information
tickets are not required, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seating opens 90 minutes before each ceremony. There is no limit to the number of guests who can attend. Guests are asked to ensure that one person remains with any saved seats and that seats are not reserved between ceremonies.
Seating for individuals with disabilities is also available on a first-come, first-served basis. To accommodate as many individuals as possible, guests requiring seating in this area may have only one attendant sit with them.
Security and Prohibited items
For safety, all bags are subject to search by University Police. A list of prohibited items can be found under the Family & Guests section of the commencement website. Please do not leave bags and personal belongings unattended.
Service animals, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and in accordance with University policy, are allowed at the commencement ceremonies. All other animals are prohibited.
Amenities
Food and beverages will be available for purchase at concession stands near the Quad.The University Wolf Shop will be selling flowers, t-shirts, and other university gear. Outdoor restrooms will also be available. View the university map for amenity locations.
Livestream
For those unable to attend in person, all ceremonies will be streamed live, beginning 30 minutes prior to each ceremony.
