Manchester United Pursues Four Departures, One Arrival Before transfer Deadline
MANCHESTER, England – Manchester United is working to finalize the exits of Antony, Rasmus Hojlund, and Jadon Sancho, while concurrently completing the arrival of goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp for a fee of £18.2million. The flurry of activity aims to reshape the squad before the close of the transfer window.
Antony is set to join Real Betis in a permanent deal for an overall fee of £21.65m, three years after United signed him from Ajax for a fee rising to £86.3m. Hojlund is poised for a season-long loan to Napoli, with the Italian club obligated to purchase the Denmark international next year. Sancho is nearing a season-long loan move to Aston villa, which would be his third loan spell during his time at United.
Sancho, 25, is under contract at United until 2026 and is likely to be released. Aston Villa will cover 80% of Sancho’s salary, with achievable bonuses included in the agreement.
The club is also facing potential difficulty in finding a new club for left back Tyrell Malacia, despite the transfer windows in Saudi Arabia and Turkey remaining open for a longer period.
Lammens, 23, arrived in Manchester today, though club sources have not confirmed whether he will become the team’s first-choice goalkeeper.
united’s inability to sell Casemiro has reportedly prevented the acquisition of a major midfielder. The club was outbid by Brighton and Hove Albion for Carlos Baleba but may revisit their interest next year.
As the window nears its close, United could find themselves with more goalkeepers than central midfielders, with Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, and Manuel Ugarte as the specialist options available to manager Ruben Amorim, alongside captain Bruno Fernandes who is expected to feature prominently in the position this season.
