A £7 LED light strip transformed the atmosphere of a university bedroom, according to Chloe Harmer, a 20-year-old student at Leeds Arts University. Harmer, who is studying fashion marketing, described how the simple addition, affixed to the back of a mirror, created a “cosy” feel, particularly at night.
“I bought an led light strip for £7 which has an adhesive back which you just stick behind it,” Harmer explained. “It took me less than five minutes – and it completely elevated it. It’s made my room feel so much more cosy especially at night time.”
Harmer’s experience reflects a growing trend among students seeking to personalize their rented accommodation on a limited budget. She similarly emphasized the importance of fairy lights and framed prints as essential elements in creating a comfortable living space. According to her LinkedIn profile, Harmer is currently balancing her studies with part-time function as a social media manager and content creator.
The student’s approach to room decoration has gained some visibility online, with a TikTok video showcasing a typical day in her life as a student in Leeds. The video, posted under the username @chloeharmerx, has garnered over 200 likes.
