A recent social media post by American swimmer Patrick Sammon, featuring an underwater photograph and the hashtag #swim, comes as the athlete continues a competitive run marked by recent successes and upcoming engagements.
Sammon, 22, of El Dorado Hills, California, earned a gold medal in the mixed 4×100 metre freestyle relay at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, according to verified reports. He as well secured a silver medal in the 100-meter freestyle at the 2025 USA Swimming Championships, qualifying him for the World Aquatics Championships team. At the championships, the mixed 4×100 freestyle relay team set a world record time of 3:18.48.
Currently competing at the collegiate level for Arizona State University, Sammon was a key contributor to the Sun Devils’ first NCAA swimming and diving championship in program history in 2024, winning a gold medal in the 400 freestyle relay with an NCAA record time of 2:43.40. He has earned multiple Big 12 and Pac-12 championships, and was named the 2025 NCAA Elite 90 Winner and the 2024-25 Big 12 Scholar Athlete of the Year.
At the Big 12 Championships in February 2025, Sammon won the 200 free with a personal best time of 1:31.57 and placed second in the 100 free. He also competed at the Eddie Reese Texas Showdown, finishing second in the 200 free and fourth in the 100 free.
Most recently, Sammon competed at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup 2025 in the USA, achieving personal bests in the 50, 100, and 200 freestyle events. He is scheduled to participate in the USA Swimming Pro Swim Series in Austin, Texas, in January 2026, where he will compete in the 50 and 100 butterfly.
