Russian forces are constructing a new military base near the town of Melitopol in the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine, according to Ukrainian partisan movement ATESH. The base is located in the settlement of Myrne, approximately 8 kilometers from Melitopol.
ATESH reported that the area is under 24-hour surveillance by the 291st Guards Motor Rifle Regiment of the Russian Armed Forces. The coordinates of the construction site are 46.930529, 35.417587. Construction equipment is actively operating at the site, with Russian troops building a fortified field camp intended to house personnel.
A significant focus of the construction is the creation of a training cluster, including the development of areas for training drone operators, ATESH stated. The partisan group alleges that Russia is attempting to establish a logistical base for preparing reserves and drone operators, hoping to avoid detection in the occupied territory. “This is a mistake,” ATESH asserted.
ATESH claims to be maintaining constant monitoring of the construction and has already relayed the coordinates to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The group stated, “Instead of new barracks, they will receive a fiery ‘greeting.’”
Recent activity attributed to ATESH includes the disruption of railway infrastructure near Melitopol, used by Russian forces to transport equipment, ammunition, and fuel. A relay cabinet on a railway line was reportedly destroyed, halting military cargo traffic and complicating Russian logistical plans in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to a report from From-UA.
