Kyiv Denounces Russian Nighttime Strikes as “Terrorist Reaction” to Proposed US Peace Plan

KYIV, Ukraine – Ukrainian officials condemned a wave of Russian nighttime strikes on Monday, November 24, as a direct response to a 28-point peace plan recently proposed by the United States. Kyiv has characterized the attacks as a “terrorist reaction” from Vladimir Putin, signaling escalating tensions amidst ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The US plan, presented to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday, November 22, with a deadline of november 27 for acceptance, was described by sources as heavily favoring Russia in any potential resolution to the conflict. The ultimatum sparked immediate turmoil in Europe, raising concerns about a forced peace that would legitimize Russian aggression.

However, following negotiations in Geneva on Sunday, November 23, between American, Ukrainian, and European national security advisors, the thanksgiving deadline appears to have been softened. A close friend of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, speaking from a European Union-African Union summit in luanda, noted, “In Washington as at Mar-a-Lago [Donald Trump’s Florida residence] we want to go quickly. But a certain versatility has been established.

While details of the revised plan remain undisclosed, the initial proposal reportedly aimed to swiftly end the war,but at a critically importent cost to Ukrainian sovereignty. The recent russian strikes, targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas, underscore the Kremlin’s unwillingness to negotiate on terms unfavorable to its objectives. The situation remains fluid as diplomatic discussions continue, with Europeans cautiously optimistic about the apparent easing of the initial deadline, but wary of the potential for further escalation.
