Russia Launches Massive Overnight Attack on ukraine, Zelensky Reports
Ukraine came under a large-scale combined attack overnight, involving “more than 50 missiles and around 500 drones,” according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who shared images of damaged buildings on Telegram Sunday morning. The assault targeted critical infrastructure across multiple regions, raising concerns about the country’s ability to maintain essential services.
Zelenskyy detailed that the regions of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, Odesa, and Kirovohrad were all affected by the strikes, which he said resulted in at least five deaths.
“Today, the Russians have again struck our infrastructure, everything that ensures normal life to the population,” Zelenskyy stated, appealing for increased defense assistance. He specifically called for “more protection” and “a faster implementation of all defense agreements, in particular in terms of air defense,” urging, “The United States and Europe must act to force Putin to stop.”
The Russian military acknowledged launching a “massive attack using high precision weapons,” including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, claiming to have targeted facilities within Ukraine’s military-industrial complex and energy infrastructure supporting its operations.
