We remain firmly committed to fostering consensus within the Council, and will continue to explore co-penning initiatives where mutually beneficial, as demonstrated by our work with African Council members on Libya and Sudan.
We recognize the disruption caused by the delay in appointing subsidiary body chairs this year. We look forward to collaborating with current and incoming Council members to reach an agreement for 2026, ensuring sufficient planning time for incoming Chairs.
Ultimately, we all share a responsibility to safeguard the Security Council’s integrity and fulfill its mandate to maintain international peace and security. The United Kingdom is committed to ongoing collaboration with all members to continually refine the Council’s working methods, enhancing its effectiveness and efficiency.
