UK Preparedness for Prolonged Conflict: Keir Starmer’s Warning | Asharq News 2026
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated on Monday that the United Kingdom must prepare for the possibility of continued threats, following a recent incident at a property linked to him. The statement came after police arrested a 21-year-ancient man on Tuesday in connection with a fire at a residence associated with the prominent public figure, according to reports from Asharq news.
Authorities responded to reports of a fire around 01:35 local time, with damage reported to the entrance of the property. No injuries were sustained, police stated. The investigation is being led by counter-terrorism officers, alongside inquiries into two other incidents in North London, as reported by Asharq.
Starmer thanked emergency services for their response to the incident on Monday, but his office declined to provide further comment, citing the ongoing investigation. A spokesperson for Starmer’s office at Downing Street said, “The Prime Minister thanks the emergency services for their efforts. The incident is under active investigation, and therefore we will not be making further comment.”
The arrest was made on suspicion of arson, according to Asharq. The incident has drawn attention from international figures, including former U.S. President Donald Trump, who shared a video appearing to show Starmer looking concerned and attempting to avoid a phone call, as reported by Al Khaleej on Saturday.
