UFC Announces Five Additional Fights for Perth Event, Featuring Rising Strawweight Loma Lookboonmee
PERTH, AUSTRALIA – August 16, 2023 – The UFC has bolstered the fight card for UFC FIGHT NIGHT®: ULBERG vs. REYES, scheduled for September 30th at RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia, with the addition of five exciting matchups. The event,headlined by the light heavyweight clash between New zealand’s Blood Diamond Ulberg and Brazil’s Kennedy Nzechukwu,now features a diverse range of talent from across the globe.
- A women’s strawweight contest has been added, pitting Thailand’s Loma Lookboonmee (10-3-0), representing Phuket, against Brazil’s Alexia “Burguesinha” Thainara (12-1-0) from Varginha. Lookboonmee is coming off a split decision victory over Polyana Viana at UFC Fight Night: Strickland vs. Du Plessis on July 8, 2023, in Sydney, Australia. Thainara is making her UFC debut after a successful run on the Brazilian regional circuit.
- Representing City Kickboxing, the same gym as headliner Blood Diamond Ulberg, Colby “Slickness” Thicknesse (7-1-0) of Windang, Australia, will face Josias “The K.O Wizard” Musasa (8-1-0), a bantamweight fighter hailing from the Dominican Republic. Thicknesse last fought at UFC Fight Night: Strickland vs.Du Plessis, losing a unanimous decision to Jack Della Maddalena.
- South Korean featherweight Dooho Choi (16-4-1), nicknamed “The korean Superboy,” will return to the Octagon against Brazil’s Daniel “Willycat” Santos (13-2-0) of Sao Paulo. Choi is a veteran of the UFC, known for his exciting striking style, and last competed at UFC Fight Night: korean Zombie vs. Volkanovski in August 2022. Santos is also a seasoned competitor, with a majority of his wins coming by way of knockout.
- Another City Kickboxing product, Navajo Stirling (7-0-0) from Auckland, New Zealand, remains undefeated and will take on Rodolfo “Trator” Bellato (12-3-0) of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in a light heavyweight bout. Stirling is quickly rising through the ranks and is looking to make a statement against the experienced Bellato.
All bouts are subject to final approval by the Western Australia Combat Sports Commission. The event is expected to draw a meaningful crowd to RAC Arena, with tickets still available on UFC.com/Perth.
