TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 1 UConn women’s basketball team (7-0) will face South Florida (5-3) on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in the Yuengling Center, marking their first trip to USF as February 16, 2020, when both teams were members of the American Athletic Conference. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield (FOX Sports 97.9).
UConn boasts a 34-0 all-time record against the Bulls and is 142-0 overall against American Athletic Conference opponents, having gone 139-0 in conference regular season and tournament games during their time in the league from 2013-20. The Huskies previously secured NCAA championships in Tampa in both 2015 and 2025.
In their most recent outing,UConn dominated Xavier,104-39,on Sunday to open BIG EAST play,with six Huskies scoring in double figures. Sophomore Allie Ziebell led the scoring with 16 points, including five three-pointers in 16 minutes, while sarah strong contributed 14 points, six rebounds, eight assists, and six steals. UConn capitalized with 45 bench points and 42 points off turnovers against the Musketeers.
South Florida comes off a 90-58 victory over New orleans on Sunday. Edyn Battle currently leads the Bulls in scoring, averaging 14.2 points per game. Michele Woods-Baxter was appointed interim head coach of South Florida in October.
Looking ahead, UConn will return to Gampel Pavilion this sunday to host DePaul at 1 p.m. Prior to the game, the Huskies will officially retire the no. 10 jersey in honor of Sue Bird. The game will air on FS1, and limited tickets are still available at https://uconnhuskies.evenue.net/event/BB25/WB03.
