UAlbany Field Hockey Duo Earns America East Weekly Honors
ALBANY, NY – University at Albany field hockey players Jette Kurz and Emma Peeters were recognized by the America East Conference on Tuesday, earning Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week honors, respectively. The awards acknowledge outstanding performances during a weekend sweep of Maine and Colgate.
The accolades highlight UAlbany’s strong start to the season and contribute to a total of four weekly awards the Great Danes have received from the America East Conference this fall. This marks the first career weekly awards for both Kurz and peeters, signaling the emergence of key contributors for the team.
Peeters, a native of Wageningen, the netherlands, anchored the Great Danes’ defense during two shutout victories. She recorded five saves in a 2-0 win against Maine and followed up with another five saves in a 4-0 victory over Colgate.
Kurz, from Stuttgart, Germany, made a significant offensive impact, scoring two goals over the weekend – her second and third career goals. She secured the game-winning goal against Maine and added another against colgate in the 4-0 win.
UAlbany’s previous America East weekly award recipients this season include Pilar Lorenzini (Offensive Player of the Week,Sept. 3), Mara Küskes (Defensive Player of the Week, Sept. 23), and Emma Peeters (Defensive Player of the Week, Oct. 7) and Jette Kurz (Rookie of the Week, Oct. 7).
