U.S. and Ukrainian Officials Hold ‘Very Productive’ Meeting in Florida, Seeking Path to Peace Talks
PALM BEACH, Fla. – U.S. and Ukrainian officials held “very productive” talks in Florida on Sunday, focusing on potential pathways to peace negotiations with Russia, according to a statement from Ukrainian negotiator Andriy Yermak. While details of the discussions remain undisclosed, the meeting signals a renewed push for diplomatic solutions as the conflict in Ukraine enters its third year.
The talks come as the Trump administration continues efforts to broker a resolution to the war, which began with Russia’s invasion in 2022. Ukraine has emphasized the need for future security guarantees as a key component of any agreement, while Russia has demanded territorial concessions and a commitment that Ukraine will not join NATO.
yermak stated, “It is important that the talks have a constructive dynamic and that all issues were discussed openly and with a clear focus on ensuring Ukraine’s sovereignty and national interests,” adding his gratitude to former President Trump and the administration.
Following the Florida meeting, U.S. envoy Eric Witkoff is expected to travel to Moscow in the coming days. Simultaneously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to meet with french President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Monday, according to France 24. Former President Trump revealed last week on Truth Social that Army Secretary Dan Driscoll would meet with Ukrainian officials while Witkoff would engage with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Trump administration’s diplomatic efforts have included a controversial meeting with Putin in Alaska earlier this summer. Despite these efforts, the conflict continues, with no immediate end in sight.
