Tyreek Hill Speaks Out After Dolphins Release: Next Chapter for Star Receiver

February 18, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill addressed fans on social media Monday following his release from the team, expressing gratitude for his four seasons with the organization despite a painful end marked by injury and a team rebuild.

“From the bottom of my heart, Thank You To the entire Miami Dolphins organization, my teammates, the staff, and most importantly Fins Nation, for an unforgettable 4 years,” Hill posted on Instagram, according to multiple reports. “From the moment I landed in Miami, I felt the Love. You believed in me. You pushed me. You celebrated with me. These past few years have been some of the most meaningful of my life and career.”

The release comes after Hill suffered a significant knee injury in Week 4 of the 2025 season against the Modern York Jets, sidelining him for the remainder of the year and casting doubt on his future. The Dolphins finished the season with a 7-10 record and missed the playoffs.

The Dolphins designated Hill as a failed physical when releasing him, a move that saves the team $22.8 million in cap space for the 2026 season, but carries a $28.2 million dead cap hit, according to reports. The team, now under new General Manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and head coach Jeff Hafley, is undergoing a full rebuild.

Hill acknowledged his teammates and the coaching staff in his post, thanking them for their support and accountability. He also expressed his appreciation for the Dolphins fans, stating, “Miami, you have became my home.”

Despite the abrupt end to his tenure in Miami, Hill remained optimistic about his future. “But, the journey doesn’t stop here… Every chapter in life has taught me something. This one taught me leadership, resilience, and mostly gratitude,” he wrote. “The love I have for this game is unexplainable. And right now, this off season, for the first time ever, The Cheetah is all the way turned up and locked in. Focused. The Cheetah don’t gradual down. Ever.” He concluded with a promise to return, stating, “Just wait on it. The Cheetah will be back…Born Again. Major Love to the 305.”

Hill arrived in Miami via trade from the Kansas City Chiefs in March 2022, signing a four-year, $120 million extension that made him the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL at the time. He quickly became a key component of the Dolphins’ offense, achieving Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in 2022 and 2023. In 2023, he led the NFL in both receiving yards (1,799) and receiving touchdowns (13).

The release of Hill follows the departure of pass rusher Bradley Chubb, signaling a significant shift in direction for the Dolphins. The future of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa remains uncertain, with General Manager Sullivan stating a decision is imminent regarding his status with the team for the 2026 season, according to reports.
