Two Children Hurt in Illinois Crash – Injuries, Airlifted

Harvard, Illinois A head-on collision Sunday afternoon in Harvard, Illinois, left five people injured, including two children, with one child airlifted to a‍ Level I​ trauma ‍center in serious condition. The crash occurred ‍shortly after 4 p.m. at the intersection of Route ​14 and Lembeck Road.

The incident involved a sedan and an ‍SUV, resulting in meaningful injuries to​ occupants of both ​vehicles.One child was ‌ejected ‍from a car seat within the SUV and required immediate transport by ⁤air ambulance due to the severity of their condition. Two adults sustained moderate injuries,and another child in the ‍SUV suffered minor injuries. Firefighters worked to⁤ extricate the driver⁣ of the sedan, ‍who was trapped inside and subsequently transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

Responding agencies included the Harvard Fire Protection District, alongside mutual aid from ​the Hebron-Alden-Greenwood, Woodstock, and Richmond Fire Protection Districts. A Mercyhealth‌ MD-1 emergency ​physician was also on scene to‍ provide advanced medical⁤ care. Authorities are investigating ‍the⁢ cause of the crash, and the intersection was temporarily closed while emergency personnel worked and investigators⁣ processed the scene. ⁢This incident underscores the​ potential for serious consequences in head-on collisions and highlights the importance of ⁣safe ​driving practices.
