Two Arrested for Murder of SNL Writer Jimmy Fowlie’s Sister Christina Downer
Delorean Bijon Brandon, the boyfriend of the sister of Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie, and Kaylee Nicole Markowski have been arrested and charged with murder nearly a year after Christina Downer disappeared, the Los Angeles Police Department announced on Friday, October 30, 2026. Downer was reported missing on December 18, 2025, after an ex-husband requested a welfare check.
Arrests Announced by Robbery-Homicide Division
The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division made the arrests following an investigation that shifted from a missing persons case to a homicide probe. Brandon, 41, and Markowski, 34, were each booked on murder charges and remanded on $2 million bail, according to the LAPD media release. Brandon was taken into custody on Garvanza Avenue near Figueroa Street in the Highland Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, while Markowski was arrested in Tarzana.

When the initial welfare check was requested in December 2025, Brandon claimed that Downer had moved out of their shared Koreatown residence several months earlier. The investigation gained traction after Downer’s cellphone washed ashore on Santa Monica Beach, prompting homicide detectives to assume control of the case.
Family Reaction and Compromised Social Media
Months before the arrests, Fowlie shared a public update regarding his sister’s status on Instagram. “The LAPD has informed our family that Christina is no longer alive, and the case has officially transitioned from a missing person to a homicide investigation,” Fowlie wrote on April 29, 2026. At the time of her disappearance in December 2025, Fowlie and SNL cast members including Chloe Fineman, Bowen Yang, and Sarah Sherman shared appeals for information on social media.
Fowlie stated publicly that he believed his sister’s phone and social media accounts had been compromised in the weeks before she vanished. “The individual(s) in possession of her phone used it to hide the fact she was gone, to ask for money and to create a false narrative that she was going ‘off the grid,'” Fowlie wrote in his April statement.
Dismissed Restraining Orders Link Suspects as Police Search Airbnb
Court documents indicate that all three individuals were previously connected by restraining orders that were ultimately dismissed because parties failed to appear in court. Brandon had filed restraining orders against Markowski in recent years, and Downer had filed a restraining order against Markowski approximately a year before disappearing. Earlier in October 2026, authorities searched an Airbnb property in Joshua Tree with K-9 units and assistance from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, according to nbclosangeles.com and yahoo.com.

The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division plans to present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration. Authorities have not released a specific motive, and legal representation information for Brandon and Markowski was not immediately available.
