Two Arrested After Police Car Rammed in West Belfast

Two Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officers were hospitalized Wednesday morning after their parked patrol car was repeatedly rammed by a vehicle in west Belfast late Tuesday night.

The collision occurred shortly before midnight on August 25 during a police operation involving a silver Nissan Juke on the Glen Road.

High-speed pursuit on Ballycolin Road

The incident began when officers on mobile patrol spotted a silver Nissan Juke traveling at high speed. They followed the vehicle as it pulled into a laneway along the Ballycolin Road in Dunmurry.

Sergeant McCullough stated that as officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver tried to force the car back onto the main road. During the maneuver, the Nissan Juke struck the stationary police vehicle multiple times, injuring the two officers inside.

Arrests and drug charges

Two men are in police custody following the attack. A 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, dangerous driving, driving while unfit through drink or drugs, and possession of a Class A controlled drug.

A second man, aged 44, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A controlled drug.

Appeal for dash-cam footage

The PSNI has launched a full investigation into the collision. Authorities are now calling on the public for help, specifically seeking witnesses who saw the silver Nissan Juke in the area or anyone who may have dash-cam or other video footage of the incident.
