Karawang, Indonesia – TVS Motor Company Indonesia has reached a significant milestone, producing its one millionth vehicle at its manufacturing facility in Karawang, West Java. The achievement, announced on Thursday, February 19, 2026, marks a substantial contribution to Indonesia’s automotive industry and expands the Indian manufacturer’s global production footprint.

The one million units produced encompass both two-wheeled and three-wheeled vehicles, catering to both the domestic Indonesian market and export destinations across Southeast Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, according to a statement from the Directorate General of Metal, Machinery, Transportation Equipment, and Electronics (ILMATE).

“PT TVS Motor Company Indonesia has demonstrated a strong commitment to strengthening the national automotive industry through continuous investment, increased exports, and compliance with industry regulations,” stated Setia Diarta, Director General of ILMATE. The company began operations in Indonesia in 2007, establishing a fully integrated manufacturing facility in Karawang.

Since commencing commercial production, TVS Motor Company Indonesia has invested USD 250 million (approximately Rp 4.12 trillion) in its Indonesian operations. This investment has not only created hundreds of direct jobs but has as well generated economic benefits for an estimated 8,000 indirect workers through its network of distributors, suppliers, contractors, and service providers.

The Karawang plant now serves as a key global production base for TVS Motor Company, alongside its facilities in India and the United Kingdom. Approximately 95% of the vehicles produced at the Indonesian facility are two-wheelers, with the remaining 5% being three-wheelers, according to a regulatory filing.

TVS Motor Company’s success in Indonesia is also linked to its adherence to local content requirements. The company has met the necessary Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri (TKDN) standards, enabling its products to participate in government procurement programs at both the national and regional levels. For example, TVS recently supplied 700 three-wheeled motorcycles for a cooperative development program, Percepatan Pembangunan Fisik Gerai, Pergudangan dan Perlengkapan Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih, through a partnership with PT Agrinas.

The Indonesian two-wheeled vehicle market remains robust, with sales exceeding 6.4 million units in 2025, representing a 1.3% increase compared to 2024. Exports also contributed significantly, reaching approximately 540,000 completely built-up (CBU) units with a total export value of Rp 10.5 trillion, according to ILMATE data.

TVS Motor Company currently operates 49 dealerships across Indonesia, strategically located in Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Sulawesi. The company reported a 49% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit for the December quarter, reaching ₹841 crore (approximately USD 9.5 million) compared to ₹566 crore in the same period the previous year.
