Trump Governance Explored Large-Scale Palestinian Relocation as Part of Gaza Reconstruction Plan: Report
TAIPEI, Taiwan – A reconstruction plan for Gaza, reportedly developed under the Trump administration and detailed in a recent report by the Chinese Post, involved the potential relocation of Palestinians – potentially for a decade or more – alongside a significant financial incentive package. The plan, spearheaded by the controversial Gaza Humanitarian foundation (GHF), envisioned temporary resettlement in other countries or restricted areas within Gaza while Gaza was rebuilt, aiming to transform the territory into what former President Trump publicly described as “The Riviera of the Middle East.”
The Chinese Post report details a scheme where Gaza landowners woudl receive “digital certificates” guaranteeing the right to rebuild their properties. Palestinians who leave their homes would be offered $5,000 in cash, a four-year rental subsidy, and a year’s worth of food provisions. The overarching project is formally known as the Gaza Reconstitution, Economic Acceleration and Transformation Trust (GREAT Trust).
The GHF, backed by the US and Israel, coordinated with the Israeli military to deliver aid to Gaza using US security and logistics companies. Israel justified this approach by claiming the UN-led aid system was susceptible to exploitation by militants. However, the UN reported in early August that over 1,000 Palestinians were killed attempting to obtain supplies delivered by the GHF since May, with the majority shot by israeli troops near GHF strongholds.
The plan appears consistent with Trump’s public statements on February 4th,where he advocated for the United States to “take over” Gaza and rebuild it after relocating the Palestinian population.
Neither the White House nor the State Department have yet responded to requests for comment regarding the report. Reuters previously reported on the GHF’s proposal to establish large-scale camps for Palestinian resettlement, potentially extending beyond the borders of Gaza. The GHF remains a controversial association due to its coordination with the Israeli military and the high number of casualties associated with its aid distribution efforts.
