Trump Attacks Greta Thunberg on Social Media, Activist Fires Back
WASHINGTON – Former President Donald Trump has renewed his criticism of climate activist Greta Thunberg, dismissing her as a “troublemaker” and questioning her mental health. Teh exchange, unfolding on social media, prompted a sharp response from Thunberg, who accused Trump of projecting his own issues onto her.
The latest volley began after Thunberg expressed support for those seeking to travel to Gaza. Trump reportedly told supporters on June 6,2025,that thunberg was “so angry, she is so crazy,” and suggested she “visit a doctor.” He also claimed she had lost interest in climate change, now focusing on the middle East conflict.
Thunberg responded via Instagram, acknowledging Trump’s “flattering feelings” toward her character and thanking him for his concern about her mental health. She then addressed the former president directly, writing, “I would be happy about recommendations for dealing with these so-called anger coping problems, as – measured by their remarkable performance ID - they apparently also suffer from it.”
This isn’t the first time the two have clashed. In 2020, during Trump’s first term, thunberg responded to a mocking post by Trump on X (formerly Twitter) by advising him to “chill and go to the cinema.” That exchange followed Trump’s criticism of a speech delivered by the then-youthful climate activist.
The ongoing back-and-forth highlights the continued polarization surrounding climate change activism and the enduring animosity between Thunberg and Trump, figures who represent opposing viewpoints on a critical global issue.
