Trump Booed at Commanders Game, later Discussed Stadium Plans on Fox
LANDOVER,MD - Former President Donald Trump received a mixed reception at the Washington Commanders’ NFL game Sunday, being both booed by some fans and later appearing on a fox News broadcast to discuss the team’s planned new stadium. The visit, part of the NFL’s Salute to Service initiative, saw Trump arrive at FedExField and depart before the commanders’ 44-22 loss to the Chicago Bears.
The incident underscores Trump’s continued presence at high-profile sporting events, often drawing both support and protest. His appearance also comes as the Commanders are seeking approvals for a new stadium, a project he publicly endorsed during his Fox News interview. The team’s ownership group, led by Josh Harris, purchased the franchise in July 2023 after a period of controversy surrounding former owner Dan snyder.
According to reports, Trump was greeted with audible boos as he appeared on the stadium’s video board during a Salute to Service recognition. Despite the reaction, Commanders president Mark Clouse stated the association was “honored” to welcome Trump, emphasizing their participation in the NFL’s initiative recognizing military personnel and their families.
Later Sunday, Trump appeared on Fox News, stating, “They’re going to build a stunning stadium. That’s what I’m involved in,we’re getting all the approvals and everything else.” He also praised Harris and his ownership group, predicting “very good things” for the team.
Trump’s visit follows recent appearances at the Ryder Cup, the Daytona 500, and the US Open tennis final. His early departure from the Commanders game suggests he was not impressed with the on-field performance.
