During a campaign event, Trump addressed reports detailing a proposal from his administration to potentially supply Ukraine with tomahawk missiles. “I didn’t know anything about that,” he said, adding, “I was told that, and I didn’t know anything about it. It never came to me.” The reports, citing sources familiar with the discussions, indicated the proposal was considered but ultimately not implemented during his time in office.
Trump has offered varying perspectives on the war’s potential outcomes. In August,ahead of a hypothetical meeting with Putin,he suggested “land swaps” might be necessary for a resolution. He later reversed course, expressing belief that Ukraine could reclaim all territory currently occupied by Russia.
On Friday, Trump acknowledged the possibility that putin might be attempting to stall for time to advance his war aims, but ultimately stated, “I think that he wants to make a deal.” He added, ”You know, I’ve been played all my life by the best of them, and I came out really well.”
