Truck Accident Closes Road in Prez-vers-Noréaz – February 2026

A truck overturned on the Route de Payerne near Prez-vers-Noréaz, Switzerland, at approximately 8:30 AM on Monday, February 16, 2026, while traveling from Prez-vers-Noréaz towards Grandsivaz. The driver, a 44-year-old man, sustained minor injuries in the incident.

The road was closed for approximately four hours to facilitate the recovery operation, with a detour implemented to manage traffic flow. Authorities confirmed that the operation concluded and the route has since reopened to vehicles.

An investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause of the accident. Police have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading to the truck leaving the roadway.

The incident occurred in the Canton of Fribourg, an area that has seen recent road accidents. On July 2, 2025, two separate collisions occurred in the canton, one in Prez-vers-Noréaz and another in Domdidier, resulting in multiple injuries, including three serious cases – a 23-year-old man, a 43-year-old passenger, and a three-year-old child. The accident in Prez-vers-Noréaz involved three vehicles, with a 23-year-old driver crossing into the opposite lane and colliding with two other vehicles. The Domdidier accident involved a collision between two cars, resulting in one vehicle overturning and causing severe injuries to a passenger and a young child.

Grandsivaz, located approximately 2.5 kilometers west of Prez-vers-Noréaz, is a locality within the district of Broye in the Canton of Fribourg.
