Troy Baseball Opens Fall Slate Against Tennessee in Nashville

October 11, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

Troy baseball opens its fall slate Sunday in Nashville, Tennessee, squaring off against Tennessee at First Horizon Park with first pitch slated for 4 p.m.

Troy Tests Refreshed Roster Against SEC Competition

Supporters of the Trojans get their first look in this exhibition at a newly shaped squad that combines seasoned veterans with a heavy influx of freshmen and transfers. Following an unprecedented 2026 season featuring the program’s inaugural appearance at the Men’s College World Series in Omaha, Troy prepares for an early challenge against elite SEC opponents. The Trojans ended last season ranked no. 6 in the Final Top 25, while the Volunteers enter year two of the Elander era coming off their seventh straight NCAA tournament appearance.

With 18 athletes back from the 2026 squad, the foundation of Troy features a pair of D1Baseball Top 100 MLB Draft prospects, featuring the fifth-ranked overall player and No. 95 Noah Thigpen. Slugger Jabe Boroff, southpaw Hayden Smith, and outfielder Houston Markham round out the remaining notable veterans for the Trojans. The matchup takes place at First Horizon Park, home venue of the Nashville Sounds, who serve as the Triple-A minor league partner for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Troy and Tennessee Add High Profile Recruits

Troy fortified its lineup by securing another top 25 transfer class in back-to-back years, welcoming 13 newcomers and five incoming freshmen for 2027. The class is headlined by high-profile recruits Kam Jenkins and Tyner Flynt, who ranked No. 74 and No. 98 respectively on Prep Baseball’s Top 150 Best Incoming Freshmen list. Tennessee returns 13 players from last season’s regional squad alongside 24 newcomers, featuring the nation’s top-ranked transfer portal class and the no. 3-ranked high school recruiting class.
