tripleS JiYeon draws attention after drinking whiskey
TripleS member Jiyeon drew online attention after a video showed her downing 46% ABV whiskey in one gulp during a hidden-camera prank, surprising viewers and fellow members alike.
Hidden-Camera Prank Leads to High-Proof Whiskey
The incident occurred during an episode of Criminal Card EP.2 on the YouTube channel 710house, where comedian Kwak Beom and Tsuki executed a hidden-camera prank targeting the members of tripleS. Following a content-filming session for Haidilao, the group sat down for a hot pot gathering. During the meal, a bottle of whiskey with an alcohol content of 46% ABV was brought to the table.
The other members expressed shock and took cautious sips due to the high alcohol content, but the 2004-born Jiyeon picked up her glass without hesitation. Instead of sipping the drink slowly to savor its flavor, she downed the whiskey in one shot, treating the strong liquor with the casualness of drinking soju.

Reactions Divided Between Surprise and Concern
Her fellow members immediately reacted with a mixture of shock and worry, asking across the table, “Did you just down it in one shot?”, “Pour her another glass,” and “Are you okay?”
Online viewers split into distinct camps after the footage aired. Supportive fans left comments praising her unexpected side, noting, “She’s drinking whiskey like it’s soju,” “She’s practically pouring it down her throat,” and “What is this drinking queen moment from Jiyeon?” At the same time, other netizens raised safety concerns, arguing that rapidly consuming high-proof alcohol can desensitize people to the dangers of excessive drinking and lead to quick intoxication.
It remains difficult to determine Jiyeon’s actual alcohol tolerance or daily habits based entirely on a single scene from the video. The moment nonetheless highlights an ongoing discussion surrounding celebrity drinking broadcasts. In 2023, the South Korean government issued specific guidelines aimed at discouraging YouTube channels from hosting drinking shows.
Full-Group Promotions Continue Following Comeback
The viral clip arrived during group activities. TripleS made its comeback on October 16, continuing active promotions as a full 24-member group with the new release “Andless.”
