Asia Kate Dillon returns to customer service as acting work dwindles
Asia Kate Dillon, the actor known for roles in the television series Billions and the film John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, announced on social media that they have returned to seeking work in customer service amid a prolonged dry spell for acting offers.
Dillon Returns to Service Sector as Acting Work Dwindles
The reality of long-term financial stability in the entertainment industry has shifted dramatically, Dillon wrote in a post shared widely across digital platforms and detailed by Variety on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Dillon noted that the conditions are currently much different, particularly for actors from minority backgrounds.
“Now, as with many, many fellow actors — particularly those of us who are trans, non-binary, and gender non-conforming — acting work has dwindled, and I am once again in need of work in the service sector,” Dillon stated, as reported by Variety.
Service Jobs Supported Dillon Before Acting Income Grew
Before achieving widespread recognition, Dillon maintained a steady schedule of food and customer service jobs alongside auditioning until the autumn of 2015, when acting income fully sustained their livelihood. That period of financial independence enabled a string of high-profile casting breakthroughs across major streaming platforms and box office franchises.

From Orange Is the New Black to Billions
Dillon initially appeared in single episodes of series including Your, Opus for All, and Master of None, before landing a 19-episode recurring role as Brandy Epps in Orange Is the New Black. Their career expanded significantly in 2017 with the arrival of Taylor Mason in the financial drama series Billions, a character they played for six seasons across 71 episodes.
Major Film Credits Do Not Prevent Financial Volatility
Beyond television, Dillon’s credits include major feature films and voice work, featuring prominently as the Adjudicator in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, alongside roles in The Outside Story, the animated series Gen: Lock, and the 2025 film Outerlands.
The public disclosure prompted widespread discussion across online forums regarding the financial volatility performers face, even after securing credits in major studio franchises and long-running television programs.
