Real Madrid Right Back Trent Alexander-Arnold Faces Over Two-Month Injury Layoff
Madrid – Real Madrid have received a significant setback with confirmation that right back Trent Alexander-Arnold will be sidelined for more than two months due to a muscle injury, according to sources within the club reported by EFE. Medical tests revealed a “muscle injury to the rectus femoris of the quadriceps of his left leg.”
The club officially announced the injury following tests conducted by Real Madrid Medical Services, stating a diagnosis of a muscle injury in the rectus femoris of the left quadriceps.
Alexander-Arnold, who joined Real madrid on June 12, was experiencing a run of form with four consecutive starts before being forced off the pitch in the 54th minute of wednesday’s match in San Mamés.This injury interrupts his recovery from a previous muscle injury to the femoral biceps in his left leg, which kept him out of action from September 16 to October 26.
The Englishman had been regaining his form, featuring in matches at Anfield and Vallecas, and utilized the recent international break to work on his fitness at the Valdebebas Sports City.
The extended absence means Alexander-Arnold will miss approximately eight La Liga matches, the Spanish Super Cup, the group stage of the Champions League, and potential rounds of the Copa del Rey through February.
His injury further strains Real Madrid’s right-back options, alongside Dani Carvajal, who is recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and is expected to return in 2026. This situation may lead to Uruguayan Fede Valverde being deployed in the right-back position.
