Nebraska Travel Agent Loses Children in Highway Collision, Husband Critically Injured
Hastings, NE – A Nebraska woman who gained a following online sharing Disney travel planning tips has suffered an unimaginable tragedy. Keeley Whitcomb’s two children were killed and her husband, Blake Whitcomb, remains in intensive care following a collision with a silage truck in Adams County on Monday.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Department responded to the crash at an uncontrolled intersection on a rural road near Hastings. Blake Whitcomb, 33, was driving a pickup truck that collided with a farm silage truck operated by Dale Feik, 66. Both drivers were transported to Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital for treatment. Tragically, two young passengers in the pickup – Laynee Rae Whitcomb, 10, and Ryder Whitcomb, 7 – were pronounced dead at the scene.
Keeley Whitcomb, a travel agent specializing in Disney vacations, shared the devastating news on social media, stating, “Of my life. An accident has taken my two children from me, and put my husband in the intensive care unit. Consider me out of the Disney office.” She later posted tributes to both children.
In a post honoring her daughter, Laynee Rae, Keeley wrote, “10 years was not long enough for me,” accompanied by photos of the 10-year-old.She shared a video remembering her stepson, Ryder, stating, “Once upon a time, I met a boy. I fell in love with him the moment I met him.” She added, “Though I didn’t know him all his life, I got to know him 3 years…Being a step-parent is a whole different kind of love.”
Ryder’s grandmother, Cheryl Gardner, also expressed her grief on Facebook, writing, “Yesterday, Heaven got a new angel. Fly high Ryder and thank you for blessing me, if only for a short time. God has bigger plans for you my little buddy.”
