Fan Dies Following Oasis Reunion Show at wembley Stadium
London, England – June 29, 2024 – A man died after falling ill during and following Oasis’s highly anticipated reunion concert at wembley Stadium on Friday evening. Emergency services responded to a medical incident at approximately 10:45 PM BST, shortly after the band concluded their performance. Despite immediate medical intervention,the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have identified the deceased as David Gallagher, 53, from Manchester. Police have confirmed that Gallagher’s family has been notified and are receiving support.The exact cause of death is currently under investigation, but initial reports do not suggest any suspicious circumstances.
The concert, part of the “Oasis Live ’25” tour marking the band’s return after a 16-year hiatus, drew an estimated crowd of 80,000 fans to the iconic Wembley Stadium. The incident occurred near the green section, row 22, according to witness accounts.
Police are appealing for facts from concertgoers who may have witnessed the incident or have relevant mobile phone footage. Detective Inspector James Fletcher, leading the investigation, stated, “Given the large crowd present, it’s highly probable that individuals observed something or inadvertently captured footage on their devices. In a statement released Saturday morning, the Oasis management team expressed their shock and sadness. “We are deeply saddened by the passing of one of our fans. The “Oasis Live ’25” tour is scheduled to continue with a performance in Paris on July 2nd,followed by dates in Berlin,Rome,and Madrid throughout July and August. Wembley Stadium officials are cooperating fully with the police investigation.This marks the first fatality at a concert held at the stadium since a structural incident in 2009.
