A substantial recall impacting over 94,320 electric vehicles is underway, affecting models from Toyota, Subaru, and Lexus. The recall centers around a potential issue with the vehicles’ heater control systems, as reported by overseas media and confirmed by the National Highway Traffic Safety administration (NHTSA).
Which Vehicles Are Affected?

- Toyota BZ4X
- Subaru Solterra
- Lexus RZ
The majority of the affected vehicles are Toyota BZ4X models. The recall applies to vehicles manufactured between 2023 and 2025.
Potential Safety Hazard
while the issue is not related to the electric drive system itself, NHTSA has determined that the climate control system can, under certain conditions, enter a “safe mode.” This results in the heater ceasing to function and significantly reducing the effectiveness of the window defrosting system.
