Tou.tv Extra releases three Films to coincide with Quebec voting day

October 6, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Voter participation meets home streaming as a trio of cinematic releases are available on Tou.tv Extra to coincide with Quebec voting day. While collective futures remain undecided at the ballot box, the public broadcaster is steering audiences toward a much lighter, ludic cinematic ballot.

Jean-François Leblanc Brings Vil & misérable to the Screen

The adaptation pipeline moves from page to screen as Jean-François Leblanc directs the 2025 feature adaptation of Samuel Cantin’s 2013 graphic novel, Vil & misérable. Entract Films distributes the project, which places actor Fabien Cloutier into red spandex as the misanthropic demon Lucien. Lucien navigates an existential shift after meeting a young bookseller stationed in a garage, played by Pier-Luc Funk. The production brings an absurd and distinctive tone to Quebec cinema, translating Cantin’s original illustrated work into a live-action feature now streaming on Tou.tv Extra.

John Guillermin and the 1976 King Kong Revival

Hollywood adventure filmmaking takes center stage in the selection’s second entry: John Guillermin’s 1976 remake of King Kong. The American adventure film updates the 1933 monster classic by placing a giant gorilla atop the World Trade Center alongside Jessica Lange in a white dress. The 1970s studio venture delivered enduring cinematic sequences that continue to anchor retrospectives on classic adventure remakes.

Danse lascive Examines 1963 Class Structures and Romance

Released in 1987, Danse lascive rounds out the Tou.tv Extra voting curation by transporting viewers back to a 1963 summer resort camp. The romantic comedy and dance film follows Frances as she falls in love with dance instructor Johnny, portrayed by Patrick Swayze alongside Jennifer Grey. Beyond its choreography, the feature maintains a critical focus on class structures and women’s rights.
