Precisely for this reason, I searched among the second-hand offers in Germany to find some affordable SUVs, for all budgets, at prices that do not exceed the sum of 5,000 euros.

1. Nissan X-Trail
With its rugged, boxy look, the Nissan X-Trail is an affordable SUV, but with decent off-road capabilities and plenty of room for the whole family. The copy I found is from 2005 and has 191,332 kilometers on it. The car is equipped with the 2.2-liter diesel engine and 136 HP, engine linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox and an all-wheel drive system. The asking price for this Nissan X-Trail is 4,950 euros.
2. Dacia Duster
We could not leave out the domestic SUV, Dacia Duster, one of the most popular models available at European level, not only in Romania. The car I found is manufactured in 2012, being a Laureate trim equipped with the 1.6 liter 105 hp engine and LPG installation. The transmission is a 5-speed manual, but no all-wheel drive system. It remains a simple car with a reliable engine with only 173,460 kilometers. The asking price for this Duster is 4,999 euros.
3. Hyundai Tucson
The Hyundai Tucson remains one of the most popular compact SUVs to this day. The newest generation of the Korean SUV was the best-selling C-segment SUV in Europe. The one I chose was manufactured in 2009 and has only 84,000 kilometers, very low mileage. The car is in good condition both inside and out, and the engine it is equipped with is the 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 141 HP. The asking price is 4,999 euros.
4. Toyota RAV4
The most popular model globally in 2022 was even the Toyota RAV4. Such a brand new model has a starting price of 39,319 euros in Romania, but I chose a second-hand model, from 2006, with 324,809 kilometers traveled. It is equipped with the 2.2-liter diesel engine, which produces 177 hp, being connected to a manual transmission, and the interior is black leather. The asking price is 4,950 euros.
5. SsangYong Rexton
The Rexton is known for its Mercedes-Benz undercarriage. The selected model is equipped with the 2.7-liter diesel engine, which produces 163 HP. This model was produced in 2006 and has 199,500 kilometers, according to the ad. It’s not in perfect condition, with a few blemishes on the exterior and signs of wear on the interior, but it could be a good option for those looking for a capable, spacious SUV at an affordable price. This SsangYong Rexton costs 4,999 euros.
6. BMW X3
Last but not least is the first generation BMW X3. The second SUV produced by BMW does not seek to be an off-roader, but rather to offer good behavior on asphalt, like a regular car. I chose a 2006 model with 246,000 kilometers on the clock and a 2.0-liter diesel engine that produces 150 hp. The car comes equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission and is in good condition except for a dent on the left side and peeling paint on the steering wheel. The asking price for this BMW X3 is 4,999 euros.
