Top 50 Women’s Rugby Players of 2025: Who made the cut?

Rugby Stars Shine: Dalton, Miller, and Boubounnel Highlight Emerging Talent

Recent performances in the Women’s Six Nations and super Rugby W have spotlighted a trio of rising stars in the world of women’s rugby: Ireland’s Aoife Dalton, Australia’s Desiree Miller, and France’s Chloé Boubounnel. These players are making significant impacts for their respective teams and are quickly becoming key figures in the sport.

Aoife Dalton (Ireland)

Twenty-two-year-old center Aoife Dalton, hailing from Clara, County Offaly, Ireland, was named to the 2025 Women’s Six Nations Team of the Championship. Initially a Gaelic football player for Tullamore RFC,Dalton transitioned to rugby at age 15. Despite her smaller stature, she is known for her powerful tackling and defensive institution. Ireland teammate Neve Jones described Dalton as “the glue to our defense,” praising her as a “hard working, hard hitting and a defensive guru.”

Desiree Miller (Australia)

Desiree Miller, a 23-year-old winger for the Waratahs, earned the Super Rugby Women’s Player of the Final award in April 2024. The five-foot-three-inch Miller scored a remarkable solo try in the grand Final and previously scored four tries in a dominant win against Fijiana at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium in 2024. Prior to rugby, Miller was a competitive gymnast, representing her state in beam, bars, vault, and floor exercises. Wallaroos Head Coach Jo Yapp lauded Miller’s professionalism and dedication to continuous learning.

Chloé Boubounnel (France)

Chloé Boubounnel, a player for France, is recognized for her versatility and impact on the field. She consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and contributes considerably to both attack and defense. Boubounnel’s ability to perform under pressure and her dedication to the team make her a valuable asset to the French squad. She plays for the stade Bordelais club in France’s Elite 1 division.
